An interactive training introducing early childhood educators to the idea of
mathematizing—exploring number concepts in children’s literature– presented by Antony Smith, a UW
Bothell professor in literacy education in the School of Educational Studies.
Mathematizing emphasizes, through read-alouds and shared reading, the integration of math and
literacy, exploring concepts and practices through children’s literature, and honoring young learners’
ideas through interactive discussion.
